The Billie Begonia Series
The Billie Begonia Series was inspired by the song "Panic Beach" by Maria McKee. The paintings showcase the imperfections of the small time troupe of performers; from torn fishnets, to faded costumes, and the occasional missing sequins and gemstones. Each piece in the series was painted on a metallic canvas to create a feeling of the gaudy glamour of vaudeville. The bright, colorful, palette represents the hope and the heart of the performers as they bring themselves just a little bit closer to their dream of performing at "The Palace".
